The best value stay in Jambiani.
Ninety percent of the experience for a fraction of the price. We will happily be challenged on it.

I am Morten. I am Norwegian, I have spent a lot of time in Jambiani, and I am the kind of person who reads twelve listings before booking one. Kilimani exists partly because of that habit.
Here is the thing about the east coast of Zanzibar. You can pay 450 kroner a night, or you can pay 4500. The difference is real, but it is not as big as the price gap suggests. You are mostly paying for a pool, a lobby, a buffet and a brand.
The Pareto version of a beach holiday
I keep coming back to Pareto's principle. Twenty percent of the cost gives you eighty percent of the experience. In Jambiani I would argue it is closer to ten and ninety. The ocean is the same ocean. The sand is the same sand. The tide comes in at the same hour for everyone.
What actually decides whether your stay is good is a short list: are you clean and comfortable, can you sleep, can you make coffee when you want it, is the WiFi real, and does someone local actually look after you. That list is what we built Kilimani around.
What you get at Kilimani
- Your own private unit, private entrance, private bathroom, private veranda.
- A full kitchen, so you are not locked into hotel food prices three times a day.
- 300 metres to Kilimani Beach, about three minutes barefoot.
- WiFi at 20 to 50 Mbps with UPS backup, so power cuts do not end your work day.
- Breakfast from the garden, and a host who was born in the village.
- From $35 a night, and best value when you book direct.
What you do not get
No pool, no reception desk, no minibar, no spa menu, no staff in uniform. If those are what make a holiday for you, book a resort with a clear conscience. We will even tell you which ones are decent.
The honest challenge
Find a better value-for-money stay in Jambiani. Same privacy, same distance to the water, same kitchen, same internet, same level of care, at a lower price. Send it to us on WhatsApp. If you are right, we will say so, and we will probably book it ourselves next time.
Until then, we are quietly confident this is the best deal on the coast. And you can book it in about ninety seconds on the front page: 30% now, the rest in cash to Haji when you arrive.
