Northeast Zanzibar · Reef day

If snorkelling is the priority, Mnemba deserves a place on the shortlist.

Mnemba is one of the names travellers hear again and again before coming to Zanzibar.

For good reason.

The reef around the private island is one of the island's best-known snorkelling areas.

But it is not next door to Jambiani, and the quality of the day depends heavily on the boat, departure point, timing and group size.

That is exactly where a little planning helps.

Local reef or Mnemba?

If you simply want a half-day on the water from Jambiani, our local reef trip may make more sense.

If snorkelling quality is one of the major priorities of your Zanzibar trip, the extra journey toward Matemwe/Mnemba can be worth it.

Explain the trade-off honestly.

That comparison is strong CRO because it helps the visitor choose instead of pushing the more famous tour automatically.

Go early if the operator allows it

Mnemba is popular.

Early departures can mean a calmer experience before more boats arrive.

Arranged locally from Jambiani

There are hundreds of tours for sale in Zanzibar, and we don’t pretend to run them all. Haji lives here in Jambiani and helps arrange experiences locally, together with people he knows and trusted partners around the island. Morten helps you plan before you arrive. Our job is simple: help you choose a good option and make the logistics easy.
